Collages from American Vista is an exhibition of photographic collages made in anticipation of the release of American Vista, a book sculpture by A. Grey. This exhibition merges photographs taken in the American southwest with stripper cards collected on the Las Vegas Strip. For Grey, the stripper cards evoke highway billboards, advertising everything from women to national parks and monuments. Through this visual juxtaposition, Grey reassembles these elements to examine the extent of man’s manufacturing—extending beyond advertisements and buildings into words, monuments, and land itself.

This exhibition is part of a month-long collaboration between Westlab + Gallery and Ornithology Jazz Club that presents a series of three exhibitions by local photographers in conjunction with Ornithology’s weekly jazz brunch programming.

A.Grey is a queer nonbinary multidisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Their work is community-based and an ongoing conversation involving nature, a sociological exploration of fear and trauma, and questioning societal norms.
