Westlab + Gallery Reading Group
We will be hosting an informal reading group to meet at the shop once every two weeks (dates to be announced). The ethos of the group is to provide a space for the communal engagement of texts that are more enriching when read collectively, and allow the community to steer the list of texts we will read. The texts will prioritize marginalized perspectives and writers, and cover a range of topics including photography, social / cultural / political theory, cinema, and more.
35mm SLR Photography Workshop
Westlab will be running a monthly, one-day intensive introductory workshop to 35mm SLR photography. The workshop will run on one Sunday per month (dates to be announced) from 11am-4pm. The coursework will cover the fundamentals of proper exposure, camera operation, a brief overview of the history and theory of photography, and will include a shooting exercise culminating in a group criticism activity.
