Corpos is a debut exhibition of photographs by Brazilian visual artist, Gustavo Lopes. Serving as a continuation of his work on Riis is Burning — a collection of 40 portraits taken at Jacob Riis Beach — this exhibition visualizes the lives, bodies, and stories of NYC’s queer communities.

This exhibition is part of a month-long collaboration between Westlab + Gallery and Ornithology Jazz Club that presents a series of three exhibitions by local photographers in conjunction with Ornithology’s weekly jazz brunch programming.

Gustavo Lopes is a Brazilian artist based in Brooklyn, NY. He is the creator of Riis is Burning, a collection of 40 portraits taken at Jacob Riis Beach. This work served as the basis of his most recent solo exhibition, “Corpos,” which was presented by Westlab + Gallery at Ornithology Jazz Club in November 2022.
